Exaggeration aside, upon reading the first post in posterity, it occurred to me that there are a couple loopholes in my argument which I need to address. It is entirely possible that the water saved from not wasting tea water goes down the drain anyways from increased bathroom breaks. However, I assure you that this is not the case, because I drink about the same quantity of water, but instead of remaking fresh pots of tea I simply rewarm the cold tea already in my cup.
Secondly, the reason why conserving water from the tap is important is that waste water typically all ends up together, whether it was clean to begin with or dirty. The process of purifying the water for reuse takes a lot of energy, especially if the water has tiny tea particles steeped into it. This is why I believe this seemingly trivial small thing actually does make a difference. It also costs nothing other than being slightly more mindful of the luxuries of clean water.
